Electric vehicle DC quick charging network In rural California, Electrify America has opened 30 solar EV charging stations, and they are free for clients
Off-grid, standalone level 2 chargers are available at stations located in 24 communities. So they aren’t ultra-fast, but they’re free again, and they’re running with renewable energy. Energy storage is installed into the stations so that, regardless of time or temperature, they still operate. But for both affordability and public access, they’re a win.
The 30 charging stations were developed in California by Beam Global (formerly Imagine Solar), the San-Diego-based clean tech company.
They are found in rural areas in the Central Valley and inland areas of Southern California, in places like Bakersfield, Riverside, and Folsom. In health care centers, 20 of the 30 solar-powered charging stations are installed. That’s because, due to high levels of traffic and extended hours of access, Electrify America recognized educational and health care institutions as ideal charging points.
By December 2021, Electrify America plans to build or have under construction about 800 total charging stations with approximately 3,500 DC quick chargers across the US.
